About Us

MWADO, formally registered as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) in 2003, operates within the challenging context of Marsabit County, a pastoralist region known for its adversities. As a lobby and advocacy organization, MWADO has carved a distinctive niche, particularly in addressing gender-based discrimination and domestic violence.

Mandate :MWADO’s primary mandate is to empower women and youth in Marsabit, a region marked by high gender inequality, hindering progress in socio-economic, cultural, and political spheres. The organization focuses on the most vulnerable groups, including women, youth, IDPs, PLWHA, disabled individuals, and marginalized groups like stonebreakers and water vendors, establishing a robust connection with the local community.

Create a resilient society where all are empowered ensuring no one is left behind in pursuit of justice and equality.

MISSION

To empower women in Marsabit county to actively participate in decision making to achieve social economical, political development and inclusion in resource management in order to enhance their adaptive capacity at all times.
